Resonance CARS spectroscopy on diacetylene single crystals

Abstract: An experimental CARS set-up for resonant solid-state coherent spectroscopy is described. Resonance CARS spectra of one unsymmetrically (TSFBS) and two symmetrically (TS6, FBS) substituted diacetylene monomer single crystals, with a low content of polymer, were obtained with this apparatus. Particularly, spectra of the C-C and the C=C stretching vibrations of the polymer chains, recorded for different pump laser frequencies, were investigated. The occurrence of broad spectral CARS features which are non-resonan… Show more

“…u 1 the TPA contribution remains less than in spite of s R (3), the trend of increasing TPA.20,39 It should be mentioned also that no e †ect of resonance enhancement of coherent background B has been observed in resonance CARS measurements in other polydiacetylenes in the solid state. 32 On the other hand, however, the Ðtting with non-zero ER and EI is more satisfactory, as can be seen in Fig. 3(f).…”

“…The set-up for the pulsed solid-state CARS measurements has also been described elsewhere in detail. 25 The simultaneous use of two dye lasers enabled us to perform scans of the Stokes laser wavenumber Q S and also the pump wavenumber Q p . Therefore, resonance CARS spectroscopy was possible.…”

Defects directly result in changes of the monomer matrix, which can be regarded as solvent for the polymer chains.…”
