Resource recovery: A new field for technology application

Abstract: This review paper surveys the state-of-the-art of resource recovery from municipal, primarily residential, refuse. Unfortunately, progress in effecting the actual installation of full-sized recovery facilities has been minimal. The work that has been done has been beset with technical, and more often, economic difficulties.
