Respiratory monitoring is essential in sleep studies, sport training, patient monitoring, or health at work, among other applications. This paper presents a comprehensive systematic review of respiration sensing systems. After several systematic searches in scientific repositories, the 198 most relevant papers in this field were analyzed in detail. Different items were examined: sensing technique and sensor, respiration parameter, sensor location and size, general system setup, communication protocol, processing station, energy autonomy and power consumption, sensor validation, processing algorithm, performance evaluation, and analysis software. As a result, several trends and the remaining research challenges of respiration sensors were identified. Long-term evaluations and usability tests should be performed. Researchers designed custom experiments to validate the sensing systems, making it difficult to compare results. Therefore, another challenge is to have a common validation framework to fairly compare sensor performance. The implementation of energy-saving strategies, the incorporation of energy harvesting techniques, the calculation of volume parameters of breathing, or the effective integration of respiration sensors into clothing are other remaining research efforts. Addressing these and other challenges outlined in the paper is a required step to obtain a feasible, robust, affordable, and unobtrusive respiration sensing system.

The significance of Internet of Things (IoT) makes different objects connected and it has also been known as the tech revolution. One of the many applications of IoT is in healthcare to examine the patient’s health report, internet of things makes medical technology more efficient and less complicated by giving access to real-time analysis of the patient’s health, in which it focuses on acquiring the data regarding the patient’s health and eliminate the possible human flaws. In the internet of things, a patient’s health statistics get transmitted through various medical equipment through a gateway, where they are stored and monitored. The main challenges in the implementation of the internet of things for healthcare services are checking all patients from different places. Therefore, the internet of things in the healthcare field gives the basic solutions for effective patient monitoring at less cost and also reduces the tensions between patient outcomes and disease management. This paper gives emphases on the different techniques used to monitor the patients while working for the healthcare department.

The development of, Internet of things (IOT) makes all objects interconnected and it has been recognized as the technical revolution. One of the application is in heath care to monitor the patient health status, internet of things makes medical equipments more efficient by allowing real time monitoring of patient health, in which acquire data of patient's and reduce the human errors. In internet of things patient's parameters get transmitted through medical devices via a gateway, where it is stored and analyzed. The significant challenges in the implementation of internet of things for healthcare applications are monitoring all patients from various places. Thus, internet of things in the medical field brings out the solutions for effective patient monitoring at reduced cost and also reduces the trade-off between patient outcome and disease management. The paper analyzes the different techniques used to monitor the patients.
