Respiratory Motion-Registered Isotropic Whole-Heart T2 Mapping in Patients With Acute Non-ischemic Myocardial Injury

Abstract: Background: T2 mapping is a magnetic resonance imaging technique that can be used to detect myocardial edema and inflammation. However, the focal nature of myocardial inflammation may render conventional 2D approaches suboptimal and make whole-heart isotropic 3D mapping desirable. While self-navigated 3D radial T2 mapping has been demonstrated to work well at a magnetic field strength of 3T, it results in too noisy maps at 1.5T. We therefore implemented a novel respiratory motion-resolved compressed-sensing re… Show more

“…Map sharpness was assessed for all three techniques by fitting the same vertical line from the middle of the femur to the tibia with a parametrized sigmoid function: where a , b , and c are scaling variables and k is the sharpness (in px −1 ; higher is better) [ 24 ].…”

“…These techniques have been based on isotropic 3D radial bSSFP (77), Cartesian bSSFP (78), and stack-of-stars bSSFP (79). 3D T 2 mapping has been used for detection of graft rejection (80), myocarditis (81), and inflammatory cardiomyopathy (82).…”
