Abstract:Background: The preterm survival is increased by mechanical ventilation but its prolonged unnecessary utilization results in certain complications. Therefore, if the infant is "ready for extubation," extubation should be performed immediately. However, a failed extubation during reintubation attempts may also cause complications.
