Respirometric Investigations on the Biodegradability of Phenylsulphonic Acid

Abstract: Summary:The experiments were run with samples containing municipal sewage, synthetic wastewater or mineral wastewater. The study hasled to the following findings: (1) phenylsiilphonic acid is resistant to biochemical oxidation; (2) the concentration of sulphates inrreases markedly in the course of the degradation process, and (3) at, initial concentrations of phenplsiilphonic acid higher than 300 g/mz the nitrification process is inhibited.
