Abstract:This book chapter discusses response-adaptive randomization procedures which are based on optimal allocation proportions, e.g. derived from theoretical optimization problems. We elucidate the objectives of these proportions, emphasizing their role in maximizing statistical power and/or enhancing patient benefit. Moreover, practical insights on estimation and targeting of these allocation proportions are provided. A clinical trial example, the CALISTO trial, illustrates the application of these procedures. We a… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
