Response of Different Cultivars of Radish (Raphanus Sativus L.) to Alternaria Leaf Spot on Seed Production during Winter at Rupandehi Nepal

Abstract: A field experiment was laid out in randomized complete block design with three replications and seven cultivars of Radish as treatments for screening against Alternaria leaf spot for seed production. Disease scoring was done as percentage of leaf area infected on individual plant at 7 and 10 days intervals on leaf and siliqua respectively for 3 times, and disease severity and mean AUDPC were calculated and yield was recorded. Disease symptoms appeared first in Long Chetki 22 DAS and last in Green Neck Miyashig… Show more

“…Our results for the days to appearance of disease contradict with the result of (Madhu Sudhan Ghimire, 2016) where they reported first disease appearance in the genotype 40 days on 24 th days after sowing. This might be due the seasonal differences between these researched since our study was conducted during monsoon whereas their research was executed during the winter season.…”

“…Our study revealed non-significant result for the incidence of disease among the different genotypes of radish. We obtained highest disease incidence on Pyuthane Red (34.8%) and this result is in conformity with the findings of (Madhu Sudhan Ghimire, 2016) where they reported Pyuthane Red as one of the varieties with highest incidence of disease.…”

“…Radish (Raphanus sativus L.) is one of the members of the Brassicaceae family and is one of the most signi cant edible, nutritious, and short-duration root vegetable crops growing in tropical to temperate zones of the globe (Dahal et al, 2020). Its popularity might be owing to its broader environmental tolerance, simple cultivation techniques, and larger range of usage (Ghimire et al, 2016). Radish is high in minerals and phytochemicals.…”
