Abstract:Sesquioxides (M2O3) exhibit rich polymorphism with distinct phases that form over broad compositional, pressure, and temperature ranges. This makes these materials an ideal model system for studying the effects of high‐energy ball milling and the far‐from‐equilibrium conditions induced by complex mechanical interactions. Polycrystalline bixbyite‐structured binary sesquioxides (M2O3, M = Gd, Dy, Ho, Er, Yb, and Y) were processed by high‐energy ball milling and the resulting structural modifications were charact… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
