Response of Wireline Formation Tester in Permeability Anisotropic Formations

Abstract: A mathematic model for simulating wireline formation tester in permeability anisotropic formations is developed in this paper. 3-D finite element method is employed to implement the modeling numerically. Pressure responses in various formations of different permeabilities vs time and distance, as well as isobar contours are computed and analyzed. These studies provide the theoretical foundations for the tool designing and field data interpretation.
