Response Surface Modeling and Optimization of Accelerated Solvent Extraction of Four Lignans from Fructus Schisandrae

Abstract: A new method based on accelerated solvent extraction (ASE) combined with response surface methodology (RSM) modeling and optimization has been developed for the extraction of four lignans in Fructus Schisandrae (the fruits of Schisandra chinensis Baill). The RSM method, based on a three level and three variable Box-Behnken design (BBD), was employed to obtain the optimal combination of extraction condition. In brief, the lignans schizandrin, schisandrol B, deoxyschizandrin and schisandrin B were optimally extr… Show more

“…It has been reported that RSM can be used to optimize complex processes used to extract compounds from plants. [222324252627] To our knowledge, there are no reports on the use of RSM to optimize extraction conditions for quercetin, rutin, and kaempferol in buckwheat. In this study, we have focused on establishing a rapid and convenient method for extracting and quantifying three of the flavonoids (quercetin, rutin, and kaempferol) present in F. tataricum .…”

“…The significance or insignificance of interactions between independent variables corresponds to the contour plot profile. A significant interaction between the independent variables is shown by an elliptical contour plot profile (Zhao et al, 2012). Hence, the highest astaxanthin yield was observed approximately 82 μg/g when the pressure was fixed to approximately 225 MPa and the amount of solvents was increased to 6 ml.…”

“…Nowadays, some effective methods, i.e. microwave‐assisted extraction, accelerated solvent extraction (ASE), supercritical fluid extraction, were frequently used for the extraction of target compounds from various matrices . Among them, ASE was used as an alternative fast extraction method , which utilized organic solvents at high pressures and temperatures above the boiling point as extraction solvent.…”
