Responses of the field-aligned currents in the plasma sheet boundary layer to a geomagnetic storm

Abstract: The magnitudes of field-aligned currents are strongest in the main phase, weaker in the recovery phase, and weakest in the quiet period.q Most of the field-aligned currents are carried by electrons, although ions can also be significant during a storm time.
