Results of Oncothermia Combined with Operation, Chemotherapy and Radiation Therapy for Primary, Recurrent and Metastatic Sarcoma

Abstract: Sarcomas are relatively rare malignancies; however, their huge variety and shortage of the effective therapies make this disease face huge challenge for oncology. It is recently shown that hyperthermia could be successfully applied even in high-risk cases in combination with the available gold-standard regiments. Our aim is to present various advanced cases treated with a new hyperthermia method, oncothermia, showing its advantages and feasibility to successfully treat highly advanced sarcomas with curative in… Show more

“…Patients with penile fibrosis (Peyronie's disease) (146), and palm fibrosis (Dupuytren's contracture) (147) were successfully treated with mEHT. Furthermore, the mEHT treatment on malignant fibrosarcoma also showed a great benefit for the patient (148). The mEHT is successfully applied as a complementary treatment for lung cancer with high-dose vitamin C (149).…”

“…The primary leiomyosarcoma of the breast following salvage mEHT and pazopanib, as well as recurrent metastatic sarcoma, indicates the applicability of the method in this type of solid tumors, which was proven in more cases, and in clinical trial too [91][92][93]. The advantages of the complex approach are shown by an 8-year observational study for the survival time of various advanced solid tumors treated complementarily by mEHT, as well as for various malignant diseases when mEHT was applied independently [94,95].…”

“…The research culminated in a large ( n = 341) phase III randomized controlled trial ( 362 ) showing a 29.2% risk reduction (after 5.7 years median follow-up) in local progression or death when lesions were treated with loco-regional hyperthermia combined with surgery and radiotherapy. Some characteristic case reports ( 363 ) and a phase II clinical trial were also published with mEHT ( 364 ).…”
