Resveratrol nano-capsule as an effi cient tool for blood pressure regulation: A study on metabolic syndrome induced mice

Abstract: Insulin resistance and overweight have been associated with major risk factors such as blood pressure (BP) for cardiovascular disease. In this study the effect of Nano-capsules of resveratrol (RV-NC) on BP control is evaluated. RV-NC nanoparticles were analyzed by SEM, Zeta sizer, Potentiometer and HPLC. The analysis resulted from RV-NC synthesis showed that the Nano capsules have characteristics such as size of 207 nm, zeta potential of-7.15 and loading effi ciency of 99.54% ± 1.02. BP reduction was associate… Show more

“…Recently, significant and promising proceedings have been taken to devise a new technology in nanostructured compounds, which have led to the development of NCs. This approach involves several advantages such as the ability to control-release system, maintaining the drug concentration in blood plasma for a long time, the possibility to develop drugs with very low doses, stability, and efficacy impressive [3]. In this study, a protected form of RSV by poly-caprolactone (PCL) coating as a biodegradable polymer was prepared.…”

“…It has been reported that coronary stroke and artery disease cause approximately 45% and 51% of the deaths worldwide, respectively. Symptoms of insulin resistance and obesity in metabolic syndrome are developed by resveratrol as a plant polyphenol [3]. The gold standard for measuring insulin sensitivity is the euglycaemic hyperinsulinaemic (EH) clamp technique, but this method is useless for some reasons such as high-cost and time-consuming procedure and thus is only used in research [4].…”

“…Resveratrol's capacity for protective action makes it one of the commonly used compounds against CVD. However, its poor pharmacokinetic properties, such as low aqueous solubility, low photostability and extensive first-pass metabolism, result in poor bioavailability and hinder its clinical potential [90,91]. To resolve this issue, the use of lipid nanoparticles offer the possibility to develop new therapeutics.…”

“…Administration of resveratrol nanocapsules significantly reduced both the systolic and diastolic blood pressures and alleviated insulin resistance in mice due to reduced whole-body fat. 156 Since both curcumin and resveratrol can act as chemosensitizers and antioxidant agents, Carlson et al used their polymeric micellar co-delivery to lessen doxorubicin-induced cardiotoxicity. Encapsulation of curcumin and resveratrol in F127 micelles increased their aqueous solubility; resveratrol by 29.6-fold, and curcumin by 1617-fold.…”
