Rethinking biogeographic patterns: high local variation in relation to latitudinal clines for a widely distributed species

Abstract: Wide-ranging species typically differ morphologically across their ranges. Bergmann's rule suggests that taxa in colder environments are bigger than related taxa in warmer locations.
