Retinal Detachment

Abstract: The usual sequence of vitreous changes that lead to clinical RRD begins with vitreous liquefaction leading to increased mobility and decreased stability of the vitreous gel [ 8 ]. This is followed by the critical event of posterior vitreous detachment (PVD), during which the posterior cortical surface of the vitreous separates from the inner surface of most of the retina (Fig. 18.1 ).
