Retirement migration

Abstract: Retired persons migrate for several different reasons, even though the migration rate in general is lower for retirees than among younger persons (Bradley & Longino 2009). One common form of retiree migration is the return migration of former labor migrants to their previous home countries or home regions. “…Most studies acknowledge that the role of international migration in changes in a population's age structure is minor (Bengtsson and Scott 2010;Caselli and Vallin 1990;Dittgen 1992;Goldstein 2009;Notestein 1960;Preston, Himes, and Eggers 1989;Murphy 2017), primarily due to the fact that in quantitative terms, migration remains modest with respect to the overall population. 13 Sporadically, in specific circumstances an inflow from abroad can help to fill a generation gap, as in France, which lacked better quality of life (Gustafson 2013;King, Warnes, and Williams 2000). The scale of this mobility is rather negligible, however.…”

“…The Mediterranean coast, in particular, has become an important secondary housing center due to factors such as hot climate conditions and rural and calm conditions compared to the crowded and industrialized cities in Europe. These secondary dwellings have also laid the groundwork for the start of international amenity migration over time (Gustafson, 2013;. This mobility has gradually established the destinations of amenity migration along the Mediterranean coast (Gustafson, 2008;Mason, 2002).…”

“…Security and alarm systems play a pivotal role in safeguarding our homes, businesses, and critical infrastructure. Their reliability and functionality are of paramount importance, often necessitating a continuous and uninterrupted power supply (Gustafson, 2016). Conventional power sources, primarily reliant on fossil fuels and grid-based electricity, not only incur operational costs but also contribute to carbon emissions, highlighting the need for a paradigm shift towards cleaner and more sustainable energy solutions.…”
