Retrial Queueing Models: A Survey on Theory and Applications

Abstract: Retrial phenomenon naturally arises in various systems such as call centers, cellular networks and random access protocols in local area networks. This paper gives a comprehensive survey on theory and applications of retrial queues in these systems. We investigate the state of the art of the theoretical researches including exact solutions, stability, asymptotic analyses and multidimensional models. We present an overview on retrial models arising from real world applications. Some open problems and promising … Show more

“…Messages arriving when the channel is occupied are immediately rejected (perfect listen before talk without retrial queue). If we extend the system to listen before talk with retrials after a channel was occupied, an additional finitesource retrial queue can be modeled, presented for example in [35] and surveyed in [36]. It extends the system to a twodimensional queuing model with the number of messages in the back-off phase in the second dimension.…”

“…This paper deals with investigations into retrial queue with two-way communication and synchronous working vacation. For more information about retrial queues, please refer to [1][2][3][4][5]. The main reason for this is that retrial queues provide a suitable model for the performance evaluation of computer networks, communications systems, and call centers.…”
