Retrieval of Land Surface Temperature of Lahore Through Landsat-8 TIRS Data

Abstract: Land surface temperature (LST) is an important parameter in global climate change and urban thermalenvironmental studies. The significance of land surface temperature is being acknowledged gradually and interest isincreasing in developing methodologies for the retrieval of LST from Satellite Remote Sensing (SRS) data. ThermalInfrared Sensor (TIRS) of Landsat-8 is the newest TIR sensor for the Landsat Data Continuity Mission (LDCM),offering two adjacent thermal infrared bands (10, 11), having significant benefi… Show more

“…The Landsat 5 TM imagery thermal infrared band 6 has a spatial resolution of 120 m, while Landsat 8 TIRS image thermal infrared band (10 and 11) has a spatial resolution of 100 m. These two thermal infrared bands (6 and 10) were resampled to match the optical bands by using the algorithm of nearest neighbor with a size of pixel is 30 m. In order to analyze the changes in land use (LU) and LST distribution patterns in the study area, the NDBI and NDVI indices were useful for determining the relationship with resultant land surface temperature. (Nasar-u-Minallah, 2019).…”
