“…Previously reported CT and MRI findings of MFH, including renal MFH, have been non‐specific even if there was a variable amount of density or degree of signal intensity and contrast enhancement pattern according to the intratumoral necrosis or tumour component 2,4 . In addition, the variable 18 F‐FDG uptake seen on PET in soft‐tissue sarcomas, including MFH, has also been previously described.…”

“…Malignant fibrous histiocytoma is a primitive mesenchymal tumour whose histological characteristics include a storiform arrangement of spindle cells with admixtures of histiocyte‐like cells and multinucleated giant cells 2 . MFH can be divided into five subgroups according to the predominant tumour component, i.e., storiform‐pleomorphic, myxoid, giant‐cell, inflammatory and angiomatoid 3 .…”

“…The histological hallmark of MFH is a storiform arrangement of spindle cells with admixtures of histiocytelike cells, multinucleated giant cells and variable numbers of infl ammatory cells [6] . MFH can be divided into four subgroups according to the predominant tumor component: storiform-pleomorphic, myxoid, giant cell and infl ammatory variants [7] .…”

“…Typical histologic characteristics include fibrous areas with spindle-shaped (fusiform) cells, conglomerations of histiocyte-like cells, multinucleate giant cells, xanthoma cells and inflammatory cells [9]. Histologic subtypes of MFH include storiform-pleomorphic, giant-cell, myxoid and inflammatory variants [4,[10][11][12].…”

“…The important prognostic parameters are tumor size and histologic grade [3]. Assumptions concerning the prognostic significance of primary tumor localization are contradictory [9,2]. Failure of radical surgical removal of the tumor results in a poor prognosis.…”
