Reusable BNPs‐SiO2@(CH2)3NHSO3H‐catalysed selective oxidation of sulfides to sulfones

Abstract: Reusable boehmite nanoparticles-silica-NHSO 3 H (BNPs-SiO 2 @(CH 2 ) 3 NHSO 3 H) was found to be an efficient heterogeneous nanocatalyst for the selective oxidation of sulfides to sulfones in the presence of H 2 O 2 . Excellent yields, easy and quick isolation of products, short reaction times and excellent selectivity are the main advantages of this method. The catalyst was characterized using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, energy-dispersive X-ray analysis, X-ray diffraction, and transmission and sc… Show more

“…Different catalysts for the synthesis of tetrazoles with various supports such as ionic liquids, graphene, heteropolyacids, zeolite, MCM‐41, iron oxide, polymers have been reported. These catalysts have disadvantages like being expensive, unstable, requiring special conditions and inert atmosphere for the synthesis and calcination …”

“…[ 24,29 ] Because of its low cost, affordable, and stable boehmite, it has been considered as appropriate support, and researchers have used it in their research works. [ 5,30–36 ] Boehmite (γ‐AlOOH) is a metastable phase of alumina that has free AlOH in the surface of nanoparticles. [ 37,38 ] For loading metal ions, these free AlOH groups on the surface of solid support can be used for ligand connection.…”

“…23,24 Many uses of boehmite have been reported in recent years, some of which include use as an absorbent, ceramic enhancer, catalyst, vaccine assistant, cosmetic product, and infrequently a support for heterogeneous catalysts. 25,26 Boehmite nanoparticles can be easily synthesized in an aqueous medium using NaOH and Al(NO 3 ) 3 $9H 2 O at appropriate conditions and room temperature. 27 The aluminum oxide-hydroxide boehmite (g-AlOOH) mineral is a component of aluminum ore bauxite which has a surface full of hydroxyl groups.…”
