Revealing the Spectroscopic Variations of FU Orionis Object V960 Mon with High-resolution Spectroscopy

Abstract: We present the results of the high-resolution spectroscopy of the FU Orionis-type star V960 Mon. The brightness of V960 Mon decreased continuously after the outburst was detected in 2014 November. During this dimming event, we have carried out medium-resolution spectroscopic monitoring observations and found that the equivalent width of the absorption features showed variations. To further investigate the spectroscopic variations, we conducted a highresolution spectroscopic observation of V960 Mon with the Sub… Show more

“…But there are objects in which a relatively rapid decrease in brightness is observed. For example, V960 Mon, in which the brightness decreases by 2 stellar magnitudes in the V-band for a period of about five years [44]. In the case of V582 Aur two deep decreases in brightens by about 3 magnitudes in R-band have been observed separated by a five-year period [45,46].…”

“…But there are objects where a comparatively rapid decline in brightness has been observed. For example, V960 Mon in which the brightness decreases by 2 mag (V) over a period of five years (Takagi et al 2020), and V582 Aur for which two deep decreases in brightens by about 3 mag (R) have been observed separated by a five-year period (Semkov et al 2013(Semkov et al , Ábrahám et al 2018. There are also objects that for a pe-riod of several decades do not practically change their brightness as in the case of V1735 Cyg (Peneva et al 2009).…”
