Review headspace‐gas chromatographic analysis of medicinal and aromatic plants and flowers

Abstract: This article reviews papers published during the period 1982‐88 on the headspace of medicinal and aromatic plants and flowers. Articles reported in Chemical Abstracts, the bibliography section of the Journal of Chromatography and Analytical Abstracts are discussed. Considering the large number of publications on this topic which have appeared in the literature over this period, we apologize in advance for any articles which may have been overlooked. Flower headspace analysis is treated as an especially dedicat… Show more

“…Solidphase microextraction (SPME) technique can solve many of the above problems (Lee et al, 1998). Solidphase microextraction (SPME) is an advanced technique to be coupled to GC/MS or HPLC for identification of pollutants (Benfenati et al, 1999;Pawliszyn, 1997;Baser et al, 2003;Yıldırım et al, 2004;Joulain, 1985;Mookherjee et al, 1998;Mookherjee et al, 1989;Bicchi and Joulain, 1990;Brunke et al, 1993;Kaiser, 1993;Brunke et al, 1992 andKolb andEttre, 1997). SPME was performed with a commercially available polydimethylsiloxane/divinylbenzene (PDMS/DVB) fiber with a film thickness of 65 μm (Supelco).…”

“…There is no need to remove the fiber during the entire operation. The same fiber can be used over and over again if handled properly (Pawliszyn, 1997;Baser et al, 2003;Yıldırım et al, 2004;Joulain, 1985;Mookherjee et al, 1998;Mookherjee et al, 1989;Bicchi and Joulain, 1990;Brunke et al, 1993;Kaiser, 1993;Brunke et al, 1992;Kolb and Ettre, 1997).…”
