Review of CO2 Adsorption Materials and Utilization Technology

Abstract: This article introduces the recent research status of CO2 adsorption materials and effective ways of CO2 resource utilization. Molecular sieves have the advantages of a large specific surface area, a wide pore size range, recyclability, and good chemical and thermal stability. Metal–organic frameworks have diverse structures and broad application prospects. The captured CO2 is converted into valuable chemicals such as acids, alcohols, hydrocarbons, and esters as raw materials. The rapid development of biomass … Show more

“…Therefore, for better microporosity assessment (pores with width <2 nm), CO 2 adsorption analysis has been used. 54 The calculated SSAs from Kr adsorption analysis ranging from S Kr = 1-6 m 2 g −1 confirm that the synthesized carbon materials have relatively low porosity. The porosity parameters should be taken with a grain of salt since quadrupole moments of Kr and CO 2 may lead to stronger interactions with carbon functional groups resulting in higher porosity parameter values compared to Ar sorption.…”

“…Meanwhile, it would be expected that the introduction of amines from both CS and PVP can improve the adsorption capacity of composite hydrogels for CO 2 . 43 Hence, the content of PVP in hydrogels influencing the growth, morphology, and distribution of ZIF-8 crystals in the network of hydrogels and adsorption capacity of CP x HGZ for CO 2 was explored. The adsorption mechanism was further discussed by kinetics simulation, XRD spectra, and FT-IR spectra.…”

“…The coordination and emulsification of both CS and PVP could direct the in situ growth of ZIF-8 in the three-dimensional network of hydrogels. Meanwhile, it would be expected that the introduction of amines from both CS and PVP can improve the adsorption capacity of composite hydrogels for CO 2 . Hence, the content of PVP in hydrogels influencing the growth, morphology, and distribution of ZIF-8 crystals in the network of hydrogels and adsorption capacity of CP x HGZ for CO 2 was explored.…”

“…To achieve the goals of the Paris Agreement, global anthropogenic CO 2 emissions should be zero by 2050, and although major CO 2 sources come from power, steel, and cement industries [1,2], efforts from all areas of society will be needed. However, the challenge involves unequal abatement costs across sectors.…”
