Review of different methods and techniques used for flood vulnerability analysis

Abstract: Abstract. Assessment of vulnerability is the primary objective of flood hazard management. One of the most significant purposes of flood vulnerability appraisal is to make a precise relationship between the theoretical conceptions of flood vulnerability and the ground level management policies. A variety of approaches have been defined by many researchers to evaluate vulnerability. As such, the selection of the most suitable methodology is essential for policymakers to adequate mitigation policies. The purpose of … Show more

“…da Silveira and Bonetti (2019) prepared a flood inundation map using advanced land imager (ALI) data and additional high-resolution microwave data, which was then employed in a flood vulnerability analysis. Because of their fast picture delivery (Feloni et al, 2020); (Kumar and Bhattacharjya, 2020) employed RADARSAT data, synthetic aperture radar (SAR), and Sentinel-1 & 2 to study flood hazard. Blistanova et al (2016) use GIS to assess the flood susceptibility of the Bodva river basin in eastern Slovakia based on various parameters.…”

“…The monitoring of mangrove forest dynamics in the Sundarbans in Bangladesh and India using multi-temporal satellite data from 1973 to 2000 was conducted in [20]. An integrated vulnerability assessment framework and one of the most popular methods for estimating flood vulnerability are statistical methods and weighting allocation [21]. Time series of satellite images, socioeconomic census data, focus group discussion, and other techniques have been utilized to assess the effects of recent tropical storms on the ecosystem of the Sundarbans mangrove forest in Bangladesh and India [22].…”

“…). This study contributes to the eld of ood vulnerability by providing a comprehensive approach and a spatial analysis to address this problem. The construction of an index for the assessment of vulnerability to oods is inherently di cult because of the subjective nature of decision-making and variability in the quality of the indicators (Kumar & Bhattacharjya, 2020). The proposed methodology can be applied at various scales, from districts and neighborhoods to entire cities, to promote resilient growth.…”
