Review of Recent Bio-Inspired Design and Manufacturing of Whisker Tactile Sensors

Abstract: Whisker sensors are a class of tactile sensors that have recently attracted attention. Inspired by mammals’ whiskers known as mystacial vibrissae, they have displayed tremendous potential in a variety of applications e.g., robotics, underwater vehicles, minimally invasive surgeries, and leak detection.
