Review: Surgical Treatment of Type 2 Diabetes

Abstract: In the last decades we have witnessed a significant increase in the incidence of type 2 diabetes mellitus, and obesity in parallel. So 90% of patients with Diabetes Mellitus type 2 (DM2) are obese. Changes in lifestyle (diet and exercise), behavioral therapies or the use of certain anti-obesity drugs have shown a limited effect and are not maintained over time.
