The low temperature region of the С р (Т) curve was found to have a heat capacity anomaly like that found for gadolinium orthophosphate and orthovanadate [2][3][4]. “…Studies of the fundamental thermodynamic properties of some representatives of these classes of compounds can enable one to deter mine the existence regions of solid solutions by com putational methods and to expand the existing notions of the structure types themselves. We should mention that low temperature heat capacities were earlier measured for monoclinic gadolinium orthophosphate with a monazite structure by Gurevich et al [2] and by Thiriet et al [3] and for tetragonal gadolinium ortho vanadate with a xenotime structure by Gavrichev et al [4]. In those studies, a heat capacity anomaly with a minimum at 1.2 K due to transition from the antifer romagnetic state to a paramagnetic state was found to occur in the region of the lowest temperature.…”
