The chalcidoid family Encyrtidae (Hymenoptera: Chalcidoidea), with many successful introductions, is one of the most important biological control agents of insect pests. The genus Copidosoma, with 192 known species (Noyes, 2013), is a large genus of this family. Species of this genus are polyembryonic and therefore potential biocontrol agents of Lepidoptera pests (Guerrieri and Noyes, 2005). Guerrieri and Noyes (2005) revised the European species (with 56 species). Sixty-five species were reported from Europe by Noyes (2013), who presented their diagnosis, hosts, and taxonomic status. Japoshvili et al. ( 2013) reviewed the Copidosoma of Norway, reporting 16 species. The molecular phylogeny of this genus' species associated with Noctuidae was studied by Zhang et al. (2008).The Encyrtidae fauna of Iran was recently studied (Fallahzadeh and Japoshvili, 2010;Lotfalizadeh, 2010aLotfalizadeh, , 2010b and includes 132 species. Only 3 species of Copidosoma have been reported previously from Iran (Table ): Copidosoma floridanum (Ashmead), C. pistacinellae Hoffer, and C. varicorne (Nees) (Fallahzadeh and Japoshvili, 2013); however, we are confident that this number will grow considerably in the future.
