The fascinating new genus from Costa Rica, Costacarabodes gen. nov. presents some characteristics in common with Congocepheus Balogh 1958; (Fernandez et al 2013a(Fernandez et al , 2013b(Fernandez et al , 2014a(Fernandez et al , 2014b(Fernandez et al , 2016a(Fernandez et al , 2016b; Tuberocepheus Balogh & Mahunka, 1969(Fernandez et al 2015b); Mangabebodes, (Fernandez et al 2014c); and Antongilibodes, (Fernandez et al 2014c) and Cubabodes Balogh & Mahunka 1974.…”

“…In the interim, after more than 15 papers and more than six years of taxonomic study, the authors have studied 24 genera and 44 species (Fernandez et al 2013a(Fernandez et al , 2013b(Fernandez et al , 2013c(Fernandez et al , 2013d(Fernandez et al , 2013e, 2014a(Fernandez et al , 2014b(Fernandez et al , 2014c(Fernandez et al , 2014d(Fernandez et al , 2015a(Fernandez et al , 2015b(Fernandez et al , 2016b(Fernandez et al , 2017a(Fernandez et al , 2017b(Fernandez et al , 2017c(Fernandez et al , 2017d(Fernandez et al , 2014e, 2016a.…”

“…These genera are morphologically similar in many traits, therefore their taxonomic status is treated differently by different authors (see some opinions, synonymies and combinations in Aoki 1970, Mahunka 1986, J. & P. Balogh 1992, Ermilov et al 2013, 2019, Fernandez et al 2016, 2019, Subías 2004, 2018, 2019.…”

“…The genus Sagittabodes was proposed by J. and P. Balogh (2002) with Machadocepheus sagitta Balogh et Mahunka, 1966 as type species. The genus Zimbabweae was proposed by Fernandez et al (2016) with Zimbabweae pluosiae Fernandez, Theron et Leiva, 2016 as type species. All morphological traits of these genera and their type species are very similar, therefore Subías (2018) fairly synonymized Zimbabweae (we completely support this opinion), and included Sagittabodes as subgenus in Machadocepheus.…”
