RF Band-Pass Sampling Frontend for Multiband Access CR/SDR Receiver

Abstract: Radio frequency (RF) subsampling can be used by radio receivers to directly down‐convert and digitize RF signals. A goal of a cognitive radio/software defined ratio (CR/SDR) receiver design is to place the analog‐to‐digital converter (ADC) as near the antenna as possible. Based on this, a band‐pass sampling (BPS) frontend for CR/SDR is proposed and verified. We present a receiver architecture based second‐order BPS and signal processing techniques for a digital RF frontend. This paper is focused on the benefit… Show more

“…One of candidates for implementing high‐efficiency transmitter is Class‐S amplifier [1]. Bandpass delta‐sigma modulator (BPDSM) is crucial for converting nonconstant envelope signal to two‐level digital signal in Class‐S concept [2, 3]. “…Analytical methods exist that permit minimum bandpass sampling frequencies to be computed in the case of a single-band spectrum [1][2][3]. However, BPS has its issues for multiband signal spectrum due to certain constraints like aliasing, spectral folding, and reconstruction of information band [4][5][6][7].…”
