RFId systems for moveable asset management: an assessment model

Abstract: Management of moveable assets is a key issue in most industrial manufacturing companies. With the increasing complexity of production systems, characterized by numerous and heterogeneous machining centers, it becomes quite hard to carry out an effective and cost-efficient management model of the tools and fixtures needed for ensuring a correct and timely execution of the planned production cycles. A pre-requisite for a proper management of moveable assets is the adoption of identification systems to support th… Show more

“…Moreover, these strategic decisions are closely related to the firms' accumulated knowledge (information asymmetry), valuation difficulty, and fears of opportunism (the disclosure dilemma) when selecting a partnership (Carter, 1989;Contractor and Ra, 2002;Li et al, 2008). Similarly, power derives from locking-up the most favourable sources of raw material, leading to competitive costswitching strategy (Porter, 1980;Dovere et al, 2016;Jitpaiboon et al, 2016). Access to key resources, prior knowledge characteristics and threat of opportunism are thus crucial variables to be considered for successful development of advanced services.…”

“…The state of the art [8][9][10][11][12], [17][18][19], shows that despite of its popularity RFID technology all over the world continues to develop and provides new opportunities for Automatic Data Capture (ADC) in various industries. The aim of using RFID is to share data encoded in tags and reading them in time and place required by adopted solutions of the system [13,14].…”
