The research reported in this paper aims to evaluate the epoxy injection technique used to strengthen fiber-reinforced self-compacting concrete (FRSCC) with high strength. This method is carried out on ruptured concrete specimens to assess the efficiency of the epoxy resin adhesive injection retrofitting technique for strength and stiffness. Five FRSCC mixes were designed and placed using different types (steel and polypropylene) and contents (0%, 0.25%, and 0.45% by volume) of fibers. The fresh and mechanical properties in addition to the microstructure of produced mixes were evaluated to assess the impact of fibers on the behavior of FRSCC. Results showed that the workability of FRSCC is reduced by increasing steel or polypropylene fiber content; however, the rheological characteristics of placed mixes satisfied the European Guidelines for Self-Compacting Concrete recommendation for fresh concrete. Also, splitting tensile, flexural, and shear strengths were enhanced by increasing fiber content. The simultaneous application of epoxy injection in FRSCC for repairing damaged concrete beams was shown to be highly effective.

High temperature is recognized as one of the extreme environments in the application of shotcrete which significantly deteriorate the performance of shotcrete. This paper reviews the mechanical properties and microstructure of shotcrete under high temperature. First of all, this paper reviews the cause of formation of high ground temperature. Based on these causes, the author establishes a heat transfer model with a spiral shape by introducing a multidimensional morphological formula into the heat conduction process. Then, the paper reviews the influence of high temperature on the mechanical and micro properties of shotcrete, the cooling technology under high temperature, and the optimization research technology of shotcrete. The author discusses the influence of high temperature on the thermal parameters and the deformation of shotcrete from the perspective of thermodynamics. Multiple studies have shown that the irregular movement and disorderly overlapping of molecules in the shotcrete caused by the high temperature environment result in the premature termination of the hydration reaction of cement in shotcrete. Finally, the author suggests the challenges of high-temperature shotcrete in term of the process structure, performance optimization, and application in special engineering fields. The research in this paper intends to give guidance to those conducting shotcrete research under high temperature, and to promote the further development of shotcrete technology.

In this paper, the mesocalibration test was used to measure the contact parameters (restitution coefficient, rolling friction coefficient, static friction coefficient, and surface energy) between coarse aggregate particles and mortar particles in Discrete Element Method (DEM) model of concrete. Then, the DEM model of concrete slump was established according to the coarse aggregate gradation to study the flow behavior of coarse aggregate in fresh concrete. The slump test result was compared with the output of the slump DEM model with high consistent, indicating the promising reliability of the mesocalibration test. Finally, based on the mesocalibration test results, the DEM model of pumping concrete was established. It was obtained that the pumping pressure calculated by the numerical model was similar to that of the pumping test with satisfactory accuracy better than the concrete pumping pressure calculated according to the rheological test results of concrete and lubricating layer. On this basis, the movement trajectory of coarse aggregate in the pump pipe was analyzed and the influence of coarse aggregate on the pumping performance of concrete was revealed.
