Rice (Oryza sativa L.)–Baby Corn (Zea mays L.) Cropping System Response to Different Summer Green Manuring and Nutrient Management

Abstract: The nutrient and biomass supply capacity of green manure (GM) and its complimentary and synergistic relationship with chemical nutrients is needed for a sustainable rice–baby corn cropping system in the eastern part of North India. A two-year field study was performed to assess the effect of GM and nitrogen management (NM) on yield attributes (YA), the yield of rice, and their residual (R) effect with the half-recommended dose of fertilizers on the succeeding baby corn crop. The combination of GM and N levels … Show more

“…This genus is gaining prominence as a source of biofertilizers. It is recognized for its production of osmoprotective compounds that play pivotal roles in cellular processes like DNA replication and cellular metabolism and serve as potent enzyme stabilizers Kumar et al [31]. In their recent study, Ray and researchers [32] aimed to employ heat-treated S. rolfsii to induce the production of antifungal chemicals in the endophytic bacterium Alcaligenes faecalis BHU12.…”

“…In Asian regions, agriculture is the main source of employment, food security, and income for those living in rural regions (Singh & Sharma 2016). A cascade effect of climate change has been seen over the past few decades, leading to a fast change in natural ecosystems, agricultural production, and cultivation techniques (Kumar et al, 2022;Sharma et al, 2022;Gupta et al, 2023). In general, the Indian mustard crop may grow in a variety of worldwide climates.…”

“…Farmers worldwide encounter challenges in achieving sustainability in crop production, attributed to imbalanced and traditional farming practices (Kumar et al, 2022). The increasing global population underscores the importance ensuring sustainability, safety, and security in food production, while minimizing the impact on the economy, earth and the environment (Ramankutty et al, 2018).…”
