Richard Rorty e a emergência da filosofia pós-analítica

Abstract

The thesis relates the rise of post-analytic philosophy in the US to the transformation of the institutional contexts of professional philosophical life in the 1960s, as expressed in the intellectual strategies of Richard Rorty (1931Rorty ( -2007 of reconciling the two conflicting main branches of American academic philosophy in the 20 th century. The task asks for a reconstruction of the trajectory of autonomization, professionalization and massification of philosophy as an academic discipline in the 19th century, from the establishment of university departments and graduate programs and the credentialization of the life of the mind to the demographical shifts in the discipline introduced by the expansion of higher learning in the postwar years. The effort to associate the elitist system of higher education of the first half the 20 th to the hegemony of the technical style of analytic philosophy and the rise of a pluralist philosophical outlook to the massification of access to post-secondary education offers a renewed perspective, of socio-historical inclinations, of the roots of contemporary intellectual movements.
