Ring slot CP antenna for the hybrid electromagnetic solar energy harvesting and IoT application

Abstract: The research proposed a compact antenna integrated with dual-function solar cells to optimize internet of things (IoT) communication devices and energy harvesting. The use of integrated solar cells with electromagnetic elements as antennas and energy-gathering in a design is a solution for wireless communication sensors and simultaneously electromagnetic and solar energy harvesting. Radiation performance testing of solar cell antennas and optical experiments were carried out to test the ability of solar energy… Show more

“…Energy harvesting is a technique that captures, harvests, or scavenges various unused or ambient sources of energy e.g., sun, heat, vibration, and wind, into electrical energy [1]- [44]. Sources for energy harvesting are divided into large scales such as solar PV [6], [13], [15], [33], [39], [45], [46], wind [46]- [50], tidal [30], [51], and geothermal [35], [40], [52], [53], and then on a small scale such as electromagnetic [6], [9], [32], mechanical [19], [37], [54], [55], and heat [2], [15], [24], [56], [57]. However, in recent years, largescale energy harvesting has been more widely viewed and developed.…”

“…The capacitor values are selected with values of 100µf and 10pf, so the charge time constant is much more extended than the input sine wave period (Bhattacharjee et al, 2018). Therefore, based on the analysis of the circuit construction method, determining the value of each component is based on the analysis in Figure 3, and then optimization is performed in the research to obtain the values of components that yield the highest power output (Mujahidin & Kitagawa, 2023).…”

“…Fractals refer to segments that are broken or uneven and feature self-similarity or self-affinity within their geometrical structure [7]. For multiband operation, many fractal antenna approaches (Minkowski [8], [9], Sierpinski [10], Hilbert curves [11], fractal tree antennas [12], [13], Cantor [14], shaped fractals [15]- [18], slotted antenna [19], [20], and koch curves [21]) have been proposed in the literature. A small, miniature star fractal antenna for wireless applications with a gain that can approach 4.85 dB was described by Nejdi et al [22].…”
