Risk Assessment of Water Resources Carrying Capacity in China

Abstract: As a fundamental natural resource and a strategic economic resource, water resources play a key supporting role in the process of social and economic development. In this paper, risk factors influencing the water resources carrying capacity (WRCC) were investigated based on risk theory and resources carrying capacity theory, and a method for the risk assessment of the WRCC was proposed. The vulnerability of WRCC system was evaluated by using the Fuzzy Comprehensive Evaluation method, the hazard of WRCC system … Show more

“…Wind energy and solar energy are typical climate resources, but they are not the only renewable resources in China, which also has hydro-energy resources, geothermal-energy resources, tidal-energy resources, and so on [40][41][42][43][44]. Therefore, we hope to coordinate wind-and solar-energy resources in areas where the complementarity advantage is not obvious by using hydro-energy, which is temporally stable, widely distributed, and easily accessible to improve the profit from the actual complementary development [44][45][46]. The evaluation results of water energy resources in nine basins in China show that it is possible to coordinate and complement water energy resources.…”

“…The closeness degree of each year can be used to judge the level of water resource carrying capacity, thus judging whether it is good or bad. Based on the previous findings [23][24][25], the final results are divided into five grades according to the closeness degree T ij in a non-equidistant way in combination with the actual conditions of Zhengzhou. The specific grades are listed in Table 2.…”

“…WRCC significantly impacts the prevention of environmental degradation and the spatial balance of water resources. Therefore, an in-depth study of regional WRCC and an accurate assessment can promote the full scientific utilization of regional water resources and the sustainable development of the regional social economy [3,4]. used to diagnose the main obstacle factors.…”
