Risk Management in Sport and Recreation

Abstract

A reference for administrators and managers in charge of safety in a wide range of sport and recreation settings. This is a textbook for students studying Sport Management. This work aims to give the reader an understanding of current and important safety issues in the field, using real life examples and resource finders with web links. Chapters open with example scenarios where a risk management plan is needed, which is then revisited at the end of the chapter for readers to use the information they have learnt to explain what type of risk management should be implemented. The book covers an enormous range of safety issues, such as lightning safety, heat illness, aquatics safety, playground equipment, drug abuse and action plans for medical emergencies.
