Interrupting oxygen exposures with an interval in air has also been reported to benefit dogs (Paine et al, 1941), rats (Barach, Eckman, Oppenheimer, Rumsey and Soroka, 1944;Ackerman and Brinkley, 1966), guinea pigs (Penrod, 1956), mice (Wright, Weiss, Hiatt and Rustagi, 1966), rabbits (Ackerman and Brinkley, 1966) and Drosophila (Fenn, Henning and Philpott, 1967a;Fenn, Philpott, Meehan and Henning, 1967b). Recovery from eight-hour, half-lethal oxygen doses in T. tubijex is rapid being half maximal in four hours and maximal in approximately 16 hours.…”
