Risk Prediction Score for Pediatric Patients with Suspected Ebola Virus Disease

Abstract: E bola virus disease (EVD) is a potentially fatal infectious disease, easily transmitted through direct contact with infected body fluids. Children exhibit a range of nonspecific clinical signs that mirror common endemic febrile diseases, such as malaria and gastroenteritis. Few children experience hemorrhage, and some are afebrile (1).

“…Simultaneously, some researchers have developed clinical prediction scores as rapid diagnostic tools to assess the disease probability in suspected EVD cases [23][24][25]. A screening score tool developed is the extended clinical prediction score (ECPS), which includes clinical and epidemiological predictors.…”

“…Traditional methods of diagnosing emerging infectious diseases include traditional culture tests, multiple real-time PCR tests, metagenomic-based tests, and imaging tests [ 7 9 ]. However, the existing diagnostic methods have disadvantages such as low detection accuracy, slow detection speed and high detection cost [ 10 12 ]. Improvements in existing diagnostic methods for emerging infectious diseases are increasingly being explored by researchers.…”
