“…In a study of 174 workers at 33 different employers in industries involving heavy material handling who completed surveys, use of material handling interventions such as motorized lifts and hoists was associated with a lower incidence of pain in the lower back and upper extremities among workers who frequently handled objects weighing more than 50 lb. 48 Kaur et al 49 In a survey of 363 OGE workers in three states who drove a vehicle as part of their work duties, Wingate et al 50 identified several risky driving behaviors and recommended cell phone bans, speed management, journey management, and in-vehicle monitoring systems (IVMS) as potential safety interventions. The OGE industry is increasingly adopting IVMS, engineering controls that could be effective in reducing transportation incidents.…”
