“…The TILs were analyzed using cytospin by employing a Shandon Cytospin III centrifuge (Thermo Fisher Scientific, Inc., Rockford, IL). Cells were immediately stained with Liu's staining, and cell morphology was examined using a Zeiss Axio Observer D1 microscope and analyzed using AxioVision software (Carl Zeiss, Chester, VA).…”

“…Pericarditis was associated with increased mortality. These and other authors suggest that pericarditis developing in the COUrse of adequately treated meningococcal infection represents an immunologically mediated hyPersensitivity reaction to bacterial antigens, in contrast to pericarditis developing early in infection due to direct invasion of the pericardium by Neisseria meningitidis (4)(5)(6). Morse et al (5) reported six patients with pericarditis occurring in the course of established meningococcal meningitis.…”

“…Herrick (2) reported 12 cases of clinical pericarditis in a series of 280 patients (4.3 %) with meningococcal infection. Morse et al (5) reported six patients with pericarditis occurring in the course of established meningococcal meningitis. Several further case reports and short • series have been published (3,4).…”

“…19 Our previous studies showed Riu staining to be simple, quick and effective in assistance in the diagnosis of peripheral pulmonary tumors using a multiple brushing technique and in the diagnosis of pulmonary cryptococcosis. 10,11 Although Riu stain has been recommended for the cytologic diagnosis of thyroid, breast, mediastinal and pancreatic tumors, with accuracy ranging from 77% to 95.7%, 2,24 few papers have discussed its accuracy in the diagnosis of lung malignancies. We conducted a study on patients with central lung lesions (defined as lesions visible at bronchoscopy) to document the usefulness of immediate Riu stain by comparing its accuracy with that of Papanicolaou-stained smears and tissue biopsies.…”
