The Internet of Things (IoT) is a revolutionary technological paradigm that has enabled communication with many devices over the Internet. This article presents the design through the V-type methodology of a low-cost mobile robot that uses IoT platforms and various sensors that allow it to autonomously navigate controlled environments in which at the same time it can detect the existence of liquefied petroleum (LP) gas leaks. As a result, on the one hand, the cloud platform allows storing the data of the LP gas sensor and the global positioning system (GPS) sensor for the robot location, as well as the transmission of commands between the server and the vehicle using a mobile application. On the other hand, the robot has a camera that allows to obtain video in real time and monitor the inspection environment remotely. Some tests were carried out in domestic areas and academic laboratories, allowed to validate the functionality of the obtained platform.
