Robot-Assisted Cold and Warm Incremental Sheet Forming of Aluminum Alloy 6061: A Comparative Study

Abstract: Incremental sheet forming (ISF) requires no or partial dies for sheet metal fabrication and is widely used for small batch production. In this process, necking is either suppressed or delayed due to the localized nature of tool–sheet contact; hence, more strains than conventional stamping and deep drawing are obtained. In the present study, two variations of ISF, namely cold ISF (CISF) and warm ISF (WISF), are compared. First, FEA modeling is carried out on ABAQUS to reach the forming forces involved in the pr… Show more

“…One of the leading materials in the extrusion process is aluminium alloys, which have several applications arising from their wide range grouped into series from 1000 to 8000, with different alloy additives ranging from silicon (Si) to magnesium (Mg) in each group [ 1 , 2 , 3 , 4 ]. Aluminium alloys are used in unrelated industries because of their unique properties; therefore, they are used in the marine, automotive, aerospace, or food industries.…”

“…shows the results of the strength tests on 0.208 mm thick sheet metal performed on 25 producer 1 [0.208 (1)], and Table5of producer 2 [0.208(2)]. The purpose of the tests performed was to verify, in terms of strength parameters, the quality of the sheet metal depending on the source of purchase.…”
