Robust Adaptive Transmit Beamforming under the Constraint of Low Peak-to-Average Ratio

Abstract: In radar detection, in order to make the beam have variable directivity, a Capon beamformer is usually used. Although this traditional beamformer enjoys both high resolution and good interference suppression, it usually leads to high sidelobe and is sensitive to array steering vector (ASV) mismatch. To overcome such problems, this study devises a novel, robust adaptive beamformer that is robust to ASV mismatch under the constraint where the sidelobe is oriented to the ground. Moreover, to make full use of the … Show more

“…They have been successfully applied to various fields such as radar [1], wireless communication [2], satellite navigation [3], radio astronomy [4], speech enhancement [5], and seismic exploration [6]. Array patterns with low sidelobes are very important in these applications to cope with unwanted interferences [7][8][9]. One of the most widely used methods to synthesize patterns with low sidelobes is amplitude weighting (also called amplitude taper).…”

“…However, this TBF method is not yet suitable for RAB. In [30], Li imposed a PAPR constraint on transmit weights so as to avoid excessive energy attenuation and reduce the ripple of transmit weights. It has strong robustness to the steering vector mismatch.…”
