Robust Fractional MPPT-Based Moth-Flame Optimization Algorithm for Thermoelectric Generation Applications

Abstract: Depending on the temperature difference between the hot and cold sides of the thermoelectric generator (TEG), the output performance of the TEG can be produced. This means that it is necessary to force a TEG based on robust maximum power point tracking (MPPT) to operate close to its MPP at any given temperature or load. In this paper, an improved fractional MPPT (IFMPPT) is proposed in order to increase the amount of energy that can be harvested from TEGs. According to the suggested method, fractional order co… Show more

“…Different optimization techniques, such as ABC and MFO, have been used alongside SQP to test the capabilities and applicability of the given method. The controlling variables for the MFO and ABC algorithms were taken from references [25,[44][45][46][47]. The average hourly profits for Mumbai and Delhi using various optimization strategies are shown in Table 10 and Figure 20.…”

“…Moths employ this method for nocturnal navigation, maintaining a constant angle to the moon; this allows them to travel in a direct trajectory over extended distances [22,23]. However, when the moths find artificial lights, they become trapped in a spiral path; this occurs when the lights are exceptionally close compared to the moon [24,25]. The moths then try to keep a similar angle to the source of light, which leads to a deadly spiral fly path [22,26].…”

“…The purpose of the controller is the optimization of the energy extraction process, a popular approach concerning the utilization of a Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT). Notably, a number of studies have explored the use of fractional-order controllers within the MPPT, with noteworthy contributions from works such as those presented in [15][16][17][18].…”
