Robust non-linear control of a hybrid water pumping system based on induction motor

Abstract: This contribution presents a non-linear control of a hybrid pumping system supplied with a photovoltaic generator and a battery. This system is employed for delivering a continuous volume of water whatever the climatic conditions. In the DC side, a boost converter is controlled with the indirect double integral sliding mode controller (DISMC) for maximum power point tracking (MPPT). The DISMC is suitable for MPPT because it gives a fast response and reduces the amplitude of power oscillations. Then, a bidirect… Show more

“…On account of the fact that the variations in weather conditions are basically periodic, the efficiency of hybrid renewable energy systems is higher than that of single ones in terms of power supply quality, stability and continuation of the energy production 6‐11 . In the literature, various applications have combined the two intermittent sources of energy mentioned above, 12‐15 among them water pumping systems which are very useful in providing clean water for drinking and irrigating agricultural fields 16‐19 . In this framework, many authors have invested attention into studying the dynamic performances of such a system.…”

“…[6][7][8][9][10][11] In the literature, various applications have combined the two intermittent sources of energy mentioned above, [12][13][14][15] among them water pumping systems which are very useful in providing clean water for drinking and irrigating agricultural fields. [16][17][18][19] In this framework, many authors have invested attention into studying the dynamic performances of such a system. In Reference 20, a dynamic performance study has been developed for a Permanent magnet brushless DC motor (PMBLDC).…”
