Robust Position Tracking Control of an Electro-Hydraulic Actuator in the Presence of Friction and Internal Leakage

Abstract: This paper proposes an improved robust position controller for the electro-hydraulic actuator system using the varying boundary layered sliding mode control scheme. The proposed scheme has the ability to improve the position tracking performance of the actuator in the presence of friction and internal leakage. The former is represented using the LuGre model while later is modelled as a turbulent flow. To evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed method, MATLAB simulations are carried out under friction and le… Show more

“…Control of the cutting trajectory and application of sufficient shear force are the key elements for achieving pure-rolling shear of the upper blade on a steel plate. The cutting trajectory and shear force are controlled by the output displacement and output force of two servo cylinders with very high control precision [21][22][23]. The horizontal hinged heavy-duty servo cylinder output force must follow a precise displacement curve and the piston rod must be able to withstand the dynamic partial load.…”

“…Electro-hydraulic servo systems (EHSSs) have been widely used in the industry due to their advantages of high response, fast response, good stiffness, and high force [1]. With the development of digital technology, control theory, pattern recognition technology, and electronic technology, EHSSs have become one of the most popular topics in the fields of both scientific research and industrial engineering [2,3]. EHSSs including a position servo control system and a force servo control system are a typical closed-loop torque control system [4,5].…”
