“…As a natural extension for such techniques the control problem is addressed in several works for optimality and/or robustness. 6,8,9,10,11,12 Analytical transfer functions for both models, no tip mas and tip mass, have been previously developed. 13,14,15 The transfer functions are used to analyze the system frequency response and numerical results are compared and verified against the assumed modes solution.…”

“…The proposed control scheme is independent of the truncation generated from the flexible modes admissible function because no series approximations are introduced. Several other works address similar problems with emphasis on optimality, 18,19,20,21,11,12 and/or robustness. 11,12 A comprehensive literature survey, 22 covers the modeling and control of flexible appendage in the controls community.…”

“…The main idea is to allow some finite residual vibration at each of the modeled structural frequencies but to constrain zero residual vibration at frequencies slightly above One feedforward approach, known as input shaping, has been successfully applied for controlling flexible structures, and the technique has been shown to allow flexible structures to be maneuvered with little residual vibration, even in the presence of modeling uncertainties. In this method, an input command is convolved with a sequence of impulses designed to produce a resulting input command that causes less residual vibration than the original unshaped command [43,44,58]. The goal of input shaping is to determine the amplitudes and timing of the impulses to eliminate or reduce residual vibration.…”
