Role of cajuput waste compost against the physical quality of sandy soil

Abstract: Composting is an alternative way to accelerate decomposition and maturation of residual waste from refining leaves of cajuput to be suitably applied to the soil. The application of Cajuput Waste Compost (CW Compost) is intended to increase the productivity of sandy soil in Indonesian dryland. Compost serves as a soil conditioner that can improve the physical, chemical and biological properties. The study aimed to determine and analyze the role of CW compost in improving the physical quality of sandy soil in tw… Show more

“…Besides that, dry land has limited water so that farming cannot be carried out throughout the year, with a cropping index (IP) of less than 1.50. The reasons include the fluctuating distribution and pattern of rainfall, both spatially and temporally [6,7]. Dry land has the IOP Publishing doi:10.1088/1755-1315/1253/1/012080 2 potential to increase corn production if it is managed using effective technology with the right development strategy.…”

“…To increase the productivity of dryland sandy soil, soil conditioners, such as organic compost, should be applied [13]. The application of organic matter as soil ameliorant can improve aggregation and porosity (macro and micropore balance) and increase productivity.…”
